Premier Development League of the United Soccer Leagues and their first game of
the season was played against the Des Moines Menace at the Tony Glavin
Soccer Complex in Cottleville, MO. The
opening game was on May 13, 2006 at
the Tony Glavin Complex.

The St. Louis Lions are a member of the United
Soccer League’s Premier Development League where, players have the
ability to compete in the PDL throughout the summer months in a
professionalized setting while maintaining their collegiate eligibility. The
league is the proving ground for players that aspire to reach the
highest-levels of the game, while providing affordable family entertainment
within their city.
The USL allows eight players over the age of 23 and seven foreign players on
the club’s 26-man PDL roster (three of which must be under age 19), but the
core of the Lions will be comprised of St. Louis talent under 23 years of
age.
The Lions are part of the Heartland Division of the Central Conference which
includes teams from Boulder CO, Springfield MO, Des Moines IA, Overland Park
KS (Kansas City), Sioux Falls SD, and Thunder Bay, ON. The 2007 PDL season
will include 63 throughout the US and Canada within four conferences
(Central, Eastern, Southern and Western).
The road to USL’s Professional First Division starts at the PDL.
