St Louis Lions home opener is set for May 15th against the Real Colorado Foxes
St. Louis, Mo. (December 22, 2009)- The St Louis Lions, of the United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League, are pleased to announce their home opener will be May15th at 5:00pm vs. the Real Colorado Foxes. The remainder of the 2010 schedule will be released at a later date. This will be the fifth season for the St Louis Lions in the PDL.
In 2009 St. Louis finished in 4th place in the Heartland Division with 24 points and a 6-4-6 record.
“2009 was a good season, we had a lot of new players in the mix, we felt we were rebuilding after having a number of players move to the professional ranks from the previous year” says Tony Glavin, Head Coach of the Lions. “Honestly we had a great mix of players but the results did not come the way we would have liked. We will have a number of players back for 2010 and we have been out scouting a number of players that we have invited to our upcoming camp to see if they have what it takes for us to improve the team for 2010.”
St Louis and Real Colorado split in their matchup at the Tony Glavin Soccer Complex. St Louis defeated Real 2-0 in the first game and then lost 3-1 the next day. The Lions were forced to rest many of the starting eleven in the second game due to the US Open Cup match versus the Cleveland City Stars only 2 days later.
"We look forward to building a rivalry with Real Colorado, we had two tough games with them last season and now look forward to playing them both at home and on the road this coming season, we know it will be a great challenge as they are a very organized team and are well coached" says Glavin.
